Net10 Samsung R355C

Net10 Samsung R355C

The Samsung R355C is Net10′s newest entry to their texting device line up. It will be joining the R451C and T401G to round out their reduced texting rate line up. Like previous Net10 Samsung texting models, the R355G features a full QWERTY keyboard for easy texting. Unlike the previous two texting models, however, the R355C will be of the non sliding variety resembling the ever popular Blackberry. Despite the non sliding design, the 355 is compact and light weight, measuring 4.42” x 2.4” x .50” and weighing just 3.6 ounces. In addition, the phone is quite rugged and built to Samsung’s quality standards.

Samsung 355 Protective Cases

If the phone looks familiar, it is because it’s essentially a Samsung SCHR-r351 (also known as the Samsung Freeform). Like the Freeform, the R355C comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera, full MP3 player, expandable SD card slot with up to 16 gb capacity and bluetooth. Standard features include reduced texting rates, caller id, call forwarding, call waiting and voice mail.

All in all, the Net10 Samsung R355C is an excellent phone if you love to text, want a large screen and prefer the Blackberry like design over the sliders. Pricing should be similar to the 451 and 401 so you won’t have to break the bank to take advantage of Net10s excellent 10 cent per minute rates and reduced texting rates. easy to add airtime – you can buy cards offline at various locations that sell the airtime cards like gas stations, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc or buy airtime online from the Net10 website, or buy right thru the Buy Airtime link in your phone

The argument of the $30 card being better for texting because you get a 1000 texts is all psychological. At the end of the day, each text costs you about 3.3 cents with either card $30/1000 = $25/750. Problem with the $30 card is you only get 300 voice or web minutes so you are paying 10 cents for those vs 3.3 cents on the $25 card. A $30 card is only good if you are a very low usage person, ie. someone with an emergency only phone. If you are a regular user it does not make much sense to go for the $30 card.

Stay away from the 750 min $25 plan if you text alot. The text messages will cost 1 minute. even though you only pay 25 bucks you only get 750 texts and with the $30 card you get 1000. It’s a shady deal with false advertising. There are already class action law suits in the works. stick with the $30 cards, still the best deal on the market.

I just cancelled my account with verizon when i heard of this phone from so many people. So this is what i think about the phone so far.I’ve had it for a few days.
Pro’s;It looks like a blackberry,no contract, excellent sound quality, easy txting, can find stylish cases on the internet on ebay, only costs me $45 dollars a month for unlimited EVERYTHING (txt, nationwide coverage, internet, facebook, email etc),has a camera, also you can use a memory card to store info, you can even transfer your current phone number from your service provider to this phone. Has the same wireless coverage as verizon.
Con’s:the screen is not as “fancy” as the verizon blackberry im used to.font cannot be changed(just basic font)and not as many options on the screen.
For all purposes,I would prefer this phone. I am saving over 1,000 a year by having this phone. Even a buisness owner could benefit from this phone.Works almost exactly as the blackberry just not as “fancy” looking.
Try it our ,it’s cheap. If you dont like it you can always return it back to walmart.
Hope this helps anyone out there.

Oh and by the way.. Net 10 has a simular plan to straight talk. $50 for unlimited everything a month.. Uses multple carries where Straight talk is $45 or $25 for 750min a month (net10) VS Straight talks $30 plan.. otherwise you can use it for 300 min at a time or how ever you choose to purchase minutes. I decided to stay with Net10 when I came across HSN’s phone offer. How can you NOT jump on that??? $60 for Samsung smart phone and 300 min?!

HSN Currently has this phone for net10 service.. get them while they last!! $60 and it comes with 300 minutes and min dont expire for 1year! Comes with home AND Car chargers plus 3 silicone covers (white, blue, purple)

What I dont understand is that on the net10 website for my area, this phone does not appear as an option to buy. But yet.. It IS available on the straight talk site for $155.

I ordered it anyway because for $60, you can not beat that price. I’m hoping it will work in my area since net10 uses multiple carriers where as straight is just verizon. verizon is also available in my area so I really dont know why this would not work. fingers crossed!!

I also save an additional 4% on this phone when I went to the HSN website through my http://home.bigcrumbs.com/feistyone4u acct. Another great site if you shop online a lot. You simply log onto this site (after signing up for free)then type in HSN and click to their site.. I buy online at walmart.com going through the big crumbs site and save 6.4% of my purchases. Diff stores have diff percentages. Ebay you get back 36% of the sellers fees when you go to ebay through the site. Its great!! I bought a $200 kayak online at walmart.com and got paid back $15 or so from that purchase. Also used the site to store so there was no shipping charges.

Just something to think about if you buy online alot.

Just got this phone off Ebay, $49.99 NEW. They’re fairly easy to find on there. Came with 3 gel cases and charger. Great deal. Minutes are so cheap. Only have to pay $20 for 200 minutes. Cant wait to use this phone, Im upgrading from my old Net10.

This phone is great for texting and at the rate of 3c a minute with Net10 – even better. The screen is nice and big. Switching to Net10 saves me an average of $40 a month. I\’m definitely putting that money to good use elsewhere!

    I spend $15 a month on net10 service.

I bought the t401g on black friday for $40

I miss my palm treo 700p but sprint’s lowest plan is $35.

It’s good if you talk a lot at night or weekends, since it’s free nights and weekends, but no roaming.

With net ten, I can go anywhere and it costs the same, and if you have a decent phone, the service is the same as any other carrier, because net10 uses the same cell towers as other carriers.

If you think the service is bad, take a look at the phone your using.

You get what you pay for.

Right now the r55c or whatever is on sale for $80 (will still be $90 out the door)

I may get it, but I’m not sure I will like it…

I can’t believe Net10 finally came out with a Smartphone. The Samsung looks really good. My friend has it and he loves the full QWERTY pad. I am using the LF Flip and it has lasted me over 6 months. When I get a little extra money, I am going to go ahead and upgrade to this phone. I used to have the iPhone but when it cracked, I promised I would never blow so much money on a phone. This phone, however, I would not mind getting because they are so inexpensive.

I agree this is a great Net10 phone for texting. The screen is pretty big … looks almost like a blackberry but even with better/bigger keyboard!

Straight Talk will only activate a “Straight Talk” phone. While both the Net10 and Straight Talk 355s are the same, even have same prepaid software, they probably have Net10 IMEIs (serial numbers) designated for only Net10 use and likewise with Straight Talk.

    @Sam Soong
Smart choice buddy. I have been using net10 for a year and have literally spent less then 200$ on phone service. I cannot believe how low the rates are with Net10. Like yourself Sam I never used to be a mad texter either, although now paying such low rates I text cuties all the time.

hi i luv this fone and i would like 2 buy it i was wondering where

    March 20th, 2010 at 19:48 | #24

I did a bit of research and discovered NET10 was the best for my purposes. I don’t use a lot of minutes — maybe 200 or so a month — and I’m not a mad texter or websurfer either, but 10¢ a minute for calls and 3¢ for texts is crazy good. And no fees per day or other bs.

I got the very nice Samsung 401 phone with a slide-out qwerty keyboard and no one knows it’s prepaid. Costs me a big $30 a month for all my stuff.

    Love it!
