Straight Talk Adds GSM with LG620G
GSM customer looking to save with the Straight Talk plan can now rejoice. Up until now, Straight Talk has been a CDMA only provider using Verizon’s coverage. This new LG 620g brings the Straight Talk plan to GSM only customer’s with no CDMA coverage. We suspect that Straight Talk will most likely be utilize the AT&T network to bring GSM coverage since existing agreements already exist for Net10 and Tracfone.
This is excellent news that would make Straight Talk one of the only low cost unlimited plans with GSM coverage. This step brings Straight Talk closer to providing true nationwide coverage similar to their parent company’s Net10 and Tracfone brands. Don’t be surprised to see other GSM models added to their line up. The Samsung T401G is already being offered as another GSM model in select Walmart stores. The LG 620G is available online for any customer in a GSM zip code.

After an atrocious experience with T-mobile I moved my family onto several pre-paid phones from different providers so that we would have time to decide exactly what we wanted before signing another contract. I have to say that after 3 months on pre-paid service, we are unlikely to go back to a contract.
