Consumer Reports Shock Proof Olympus 10mp Stylus Tough 6000
The Olympus 10 mega pixel Stylus Tough 6000 is one of the most rugged cameras on the market. Consumer reports recently tested this camera against the Olympus claim that this sub compact is shock proof and can sustain a 5 foot drop without adverse effects. To test this, the camera was repeatedly dropped from a height of 5 feet. Tests revealed that this camera is indeed quite shock proof. The camera functioned flawlessly after being dropped several times. In fact, the camera did not even show any major scratches or dents. That is not to say that the camera is indestructible, but it does show that it is quite rugged and will survive your average abuse just fine.

The Stylus Tough 6000 is the second Olympus waterproof camera I’ve got. I got the original 720SW, it survived quite a few adventures and continues its faithful service with a friend. I was ready for an upgrade.
I have had the camera for a few days now and really put it through the paces. It is by far one of the best little point and clicks that I have had and I have had at least 5 in the past 5 years. It’s built well and has a exceptional battery life (275 picks per charge on average with 14 meg pictures) and the recharge is fairly quick.
