View the Nokia E71 at Straight Talk

Features include full HTML browser,  Nokia’s Symbian operating system, access to Nokia Ovi app store so you can download games and apps for Facebook, Twitter etc, full Qwerty Kb, camera with video recorder, Wifi (wireless), mp3 player and more. In addition, the E71 finally lets you enjoy email from any pop/imap account such as Gmail, Yahoo, Aol, etc.  You can even add your work Exchange email account provided your work lets you access email externally via OWA and ActiveSync.  If that wasn’t enough, the phone has front and back cameras (like iPhone 4) so you can make video calls using the Skype app. All this in a great looking sophisticated package.

With the Straight Talk Nokia E71, you can finally enjoy true smartphone and Blackberry like capabilities with a monthly rate costing half as much as traditional smartphone plans.

Unfortunately, its not being sold by Straight talk online any more. You might be able to find one at Walmart. If not, you might want to wait as I hear a new similar model phone will be coming out soon for Straight Talk.

This phone is a good phone. The price listed on Amazon is too high. If you go to the straight talk website the phone is $244 it includes the $45 unlimited card. At Walmart the phone is $199.99 without tax. Before you purchase please research.

Does not sound like it’s really the phone. My guess is that you had Verizon on the cheap phone and the E71 is with ATT. Perhaps you had better coverage with Verizon?

I used to have the cheap $30 straight talk phone and never dropped calls. Now I have the Nokia e71 that cost me $200 and I drop calls all the time. I have to stand on my porch just make calls and if the weather is bad I can forget making any calls at all. Is there a reason for this and what can I do besides going back to my cheap with no camera?

Without trying this yourself it is going to be difficult to confirm. Yes, the first E71s were being used for this purpose. It would not surprise me if Straight Talk got wise and changed sims. When/if that occurred, nobody will be able to confirm. I last looked into this matter about 3 mos ago and the sims were still reported to work. Soon there after, e71s disappeared from the ST website so I suspect that if you can an E71 at a local store, chances are it is from “older” stock. e71s are pretty much discontinued by ST at this point.

I’m getting ready to buy the Nokia E71 and my husband is buying the Nokia 6790, with the hopes that we can use them in our AT&T phones, so if we don’t like the ST phones we can switch to the others…Anyone done this? I called a cell phone unlocking store local and they said that only the OLDER ST Nokia E71 SIMS will work in ATT phones, not the New ones..So I’m trying to figure out if this is true

Doubtful. probably just out of stock. What you’re saying is not likely, if so, why would 6790 still be there? That sim is said to work as well and if it the 6790 sim doesn’t work, then all ST has to do is ship e71s with different sims that won’t work on iphone either.

I’ve just checked some other threads and it looks like the E71 has been pulled due to Iphone owners replacing their sim cards with the E71 sim.Say bye-bye to the Straighttalk-E71!

It seems that Straighttalk no longer offers the Nokia E71 as it does not appear on the shopping section of their site!

So awesome that Straight Talk is offering a phone with a front and rear camera. I just got the Nokia 6790, but I definitely spent some time in the store debating on which phone. And when you have to stand at the counter for a half hour playing with 3 different phones, any of which you would be happy with, I think that’s a sign of a cell service with great choices.

Without your zip code its hard to say but probably because there is no GSM coverage where you live. If on the Straight Talk page you see models ending in Cs (like Samsung 355c) then you live in a CDMA area.

The phone is on the Straight Talk Web page for GSM zip codes. You may be in an area with no GSM coverage if it does not show up for you. I just purchased one last night as a gift myself and had no trouble finding it. It is at the very bottom of the page, left hand side.

is it true that straight talk’s Nokia E71 has two: a front and a rear camera just like the iPhone 4?

These are excellent pones provided by Straight Talk. This particular model has been around in Europe for a while and is quite popular. I think these two new models will make Straight Talk an excellent option for those of us wanting to save some cash. The 45 dollar plan now has unlimited data so that is quite an excellent deal at half the price of ATT.
